David ChilversDavid Chilvers is the Managing Director of David Chilvers Associates, a consultancy company providing data and analytic services. He is a qualified statistician, with a Distinction in a M.SC from the London School of Economics. His initial career was as a statistician and OR Analyst and he became a Chartered Engineer in 1988 for work undertaken in software engineering.
David has worked in market research since 1980 and was recently made a Fellow of the Market Research Society for his contribution of the industry generally and segmentation analysis specifically.
He has given papers at the Market Research Society Conference (in 1981, 1993 and 2005) and at conferences run by the Media Research Group and the Association of Survey Computing, among others. He has published articles in Admap, the International Journal of Market Research and Marketing Week.
From 2008 until its demise he was the segmentation adviser to the COI. Since 2011 he has been a statistical mentor to the research team at Ofcom.
From 2005 until 2010, he was Managing Director of Continental Research, a full service market research agency. In 2010, the agency merged with BDRC and he took a gentle path into part time work with the company and retired in early 2013. He now runs a consultancy business (David Chilvers Associates) which specialises in Data, Consultancy and Analysis.
During his career in research and consultancy he has worked for a wide range of clients including Barclays, NatWest, Norwich Union, Channel 4, Sky, National Geographic, McCann, Ogilvy, Saatchis, BT, Royal Mail and the Food Standards Agency to name but a few.
