Non-Geographic Phone Numbers

Following consultation, in 2015 Ofcom agreed to simplify non-geographic phone numbers - that is, those numbers used for the provision of services to the public.

Phone numbers starting with either 080 or 116 are now free from all lines, either fixed or mobile.

Numbers starting with 084, 087, 09 or 118, (generally known as revenue sharing numbers) now need to separate the Access Charge to the number and the Service Charge per minute to these numbers. Ads asking viewers to call these numbers need the following super:

Calls cost Xp per minute plus your phone company’s access charge.
